American Express pushed back the opening of its much anticipated Centurion Lounge in Newark Airport's Terminal A to 2027. The project grew from an originally planned 18,000 square feet to over 30,000 square feet across 2 floors, making it the largest in the AMEX network with a Blue Roast Coffee Bar and 3 bar experiences. According to DansDeals, construction delays also affect other major hubs across the country. The Centurion Lounge in Philadelphia's Terminal A closes on 10/15 to expand from 6,000 square feet to over 12,000 square feet, reopening in 2027. Meanwhile, the Houston Intercontinental Airport Terminal D lounge will grow to more than 23,000 square feet by 2028, adding a second full service bar and premium shower suites. A second London Heathrow Terminal 5 lounge and a Charlotte Sidecar location will open in 2028, followed by a Boston Terminal C lounge in 2029. Cardholders of The Platinum Card from American Express and The Business Platinum Card from American Express get free access. Adult guests cost $50 and children aged 2 to 17 cost $30, unless you spend $75,000 a year on your card to bring two free guests. Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardholders also enter free when flying on a Delta flight purchased on their card. Next time you are stuck at Newark waiting for a delayed flight, at least you know a massive coffee bar is coming eventually.
