Apple executive Tim Cook promised a $275 billion investment into Chinese factories over five years. In May 2016, Cook visited Zhongnanhai, the central headquarters for the Communist Party of China, with Lisa Williams and operating chief Jeff Williams. The executives promised to multiply their investment figure by five. That total included machinery Apple bought for supplier production lines and wages for up to 3 million workers every year. "They promise to quintuple that figure over five years. So, they promise to invest $275 billion into Chinese factories." That is one very big shopping list for factory machinery.
