Aurobindo Pharma USA just recalled 112,932 bottles of extra strength acetaminophen sold on Amazon after customers found discolored tablets inside. The nationwide recall covers 500-milligram caplets distributed across the country. According to an enforcement report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the New Jersey-based company issued the recall on Sept. 18. Extra strength acetaminophen sold on Amazon in 200, 500, and 1,000-count bottles are affected by the action. The medication recall comes after the company received direct complaints from consumers about the odd-looking pills. It remains unclear at this time what specific health risk the discoloration might pose if someone takes the tablets. Acetaminophen is a common over-the-counter medication used to temporarily relieve pain and reduce a fever, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The widely used pain reliever is normally available in different forms including tablets, capsules, liquids, and powders. If you ordered extra strength pain relievers online recently, check your bottle counts and expiration dates right away. A medicine cabinet surprise is the last thing you need when you are reaching for relief.
