Proofpoint agrees to buy cybersecurity firm Varonis for $49.75 a share

Proofpoint agreed to buy cybersecurity company Varonis for $49.75 a share. Talks about the deal were already circulating back in June. Yet when the deal made news, Varonis shares still rose about 2.4% in trading before the regular stock market opened. "Proofpoint said they will pay $49.75 a share. Right now, the stock is trading at, you know, just below that" The stock is trading at about 48.50 a share. Even when Wall Street expects a takeover, real cash still moves the stock.
