Apple Watch Series 12 tests a redesigned Health app with new readiness features
Apple released a redesigned Health app in iOS 27.2 before pulling it. The app brings new readiness and health age tracking features to users. Apple plans to bring the updated app back in a later beta release. The final version will ship before the end of December.
Apple is preparing to bring back a redesigned Health app with new tracking features before the end of the year. According to 9to5Mac, the updated software briefly appeared in iOS 27.2 before Apple removed it for further testing. Michael, a reporter who has been testing the software, found that the new interface is much easier to read and navigate. New additions like Readiness and Health Age make the platform feel like a much more meaningful tool for daily use. Existing tracking tools like Vitals and Sleep are now integrated into the main dashboard so you actually check your stats daily. Apple says the redesigned Health app will return in a later iOS beta prior to its public release later this year. This likely points to iOS 27.3, which should enter testing before the end of the month and ship before December ends. While the app brings major upgrades, some users miss specific fitness tracking methods used by competitors like WHOOP. For instance, WHOOP measures days based on sleep cycles rather than a fixed 24 hour clock, letting late workouts count toward the day they started. Apple currently ties its daily rings to the standard calendar day. If you track late night workouts or walks home past midnight, you might find yourself wishing for sleep-based day tracking. Keep an eye on your iPhone updates over the coming weeks as the new Health app makes its way back to beta testers. At least you will not need to buy a separate device to track your recovery once the update lands on your wrist.
