2027 BMW iX4 electric crossover debuts with up to 603 horsepower

BMW is the German luxury car builder famous for making the 3 Series and X5. The company just revealed its newest electric crossover with a polarizing sloped roof design. The 2027 BMW iX4 is the electric successor to the discontinued gas-powered X4. It joins the newer iX3 in the lineup with two distinct versions. The base 50 xDrive variant features an electric motor at each axle combining to produce 463 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. That base model launches from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph. If you want even more speed, the M60 xDrive version generates a combined 603 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. That beefier M60 variant sprints to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and hits a governed speed of 149 mph. Both models pack a massive 112-kWh battery pack. The base version delivers up to 428 miles of driving range based on EPA testing procedures. Thanks to an 800-volt electrical architecture, both models charge at up to 400 kW. That high-speed charging adds up to 184 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent takes about 21 minutes. Inside, you get a 17.9-inch center touchscreen and a massive 43.0-inch windshield display. The sporty M60 adds an M Sport steering wheel with a red marker at 12 o’clock and extra buttons for Boost mode. Pricing for the high-end M60 is not announced yet, but expect it to land closer to the $90,000 mark. At least you will save money on gasoline while paying for all those extra electronics.
