Apple reveals why HomeView was delayed for years until November 13, 2026
Apple delayed HomeView for years because the new Siri AI was not ready.

The short version
- Kaiann Drance, Apple's VP of product marketing for home, said privacy features needed Siri.
- Lilian Rincon, Apple's VP of product marketing for AI, said natural speech is finally ready.
Apple, which owns the iPhone and iPad, has finally explained why its new HomeView device was delayed for years, with a release now set for November 13, 2026. According to 9to5Mac, top executives revealed that the smart home screen could not launch without advanced artificial intelligence.
In November 2024, reporters expected the product to debut in March 2025, but the date kept slipping. Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of product marketing for home, sat down with The Verge to explain the long wait. She said the device required the personal context of Siri AI combined with a home-focused design.
Lilian Rincon, Apple's vice president of product marketing for AI, added that conversational abilities are core to the product. She noted that natural language processing allows family members of any age to simply talk to the device to adjust thermostats. Rincon explained that this shift represents the moment AI goes mainstream for everyday users.

This heavy reliance on Siri AI also clarifies why the product remains unavailable in the EU, where the new assistant is not yet cleared to launch. For your home or office tech setup, waiting for mature software often means avoiding early bugs, but it also means patience when a promised gadget misses its original rollout target.
As Apple likes to say, good things come to those who wait for the code to catch up.
