Elon Musk says Tesla will wind down Cybertruck production next year

Tesla, the electric vehicle maker run by Elon Musk, will end Cybertruck production in Texas next year.

The short version

  • The factory will make room for self-driving Cybercab cars.
  • If your business runs a Cybertruck fleet or you own one, expect parts and support to stay on the road as Tesla shifts its lines.

Tesla will wind down production of its Cybertruck vehicles at its Texas factory next year, according to the BBC. Elon Musk confirmed the move, which aims to make room for building more of its self-driving Cybercab cars. The project's lead engineer, Wes Morrill, suggested the vehicle was being discontinued, writing on X that it lives on through the Cybercab.

With its distinctive angular stainless-steel looks, the Cybertruck attracted diehard fans but faced persistent delays before launching in 2023. Sales numbers proved disappointing, and the vehicle was hit by several recalls, including one in 2025 affecting more than 46,000 trucks over trim issues.

Musk responded with the word 'true' when a fan lamented that the vehicle would be discontinued next year, while adding that the existing Cybertruck fleet will remain around for a long time. The truck started with a famous 2019 public introduction when its unbreakable glass shattered during a live demonstration.

Prices later ranged from $61,000 to $102,000 for the Cyberbeast model as the company tried to cut through the truck market. Now, the futuristic vehicle is stepping aside for a new autonomous lineup in Texas.
