Check your commercial fleet plans this week. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority, the state's main business growth agency, is opening applications for the $25 million Take Charge Program on Monday, October 5, 2026. An informational webinar will be held the same day at noon for interested applicants to learn more about the process.

The program aims to bring more electric vehicles onto New Jersey roadways by funding charging infrastructure projects for private commercial fleets. Businesses must have two or more existing commercial vehicles, including light-duty, medium-duty, heavy-duty, off-road, or maritime vehicles, to qualify. Projects must also install on-site renewable energy generation or energy storage systems to help manage power demand for the chargers.

The grants will reimburse applicants for 50 percent of project costs, covering hardware and related installation expenses. Award amounts range from $100,000 to $5 million, with potential increases of 5 to 10 percent based on specific bonus criteria. Funding for the program comes from Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative proceeds allocated to the agency.
