Spotify Technology SA, the giant digital music and podcast streaming service based in Stockholm, Sweden, is making a massive push into spoken word. The company announced a global rollout of its audiobooks section today. Users in more than 180 markets will get access to over 350,000 titles. The catalog spans more than 120 languages. Four years after launching audiobooks in the United States, Spotify is finally scaling up. The rollout begins today and continues through the end of 2026. This expansion grows market access from 22 countries to more than 180. The service will become available to more than 750 million people worldwide. Users in newly supported markets will find catalogs in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and many other languages. You will also be able to purchase individual audiobooks outright without a subscription. Pricing and exact availability will vary by your local market. Spotify also updated its Page Match feature for switching between physical books and audiobooks. You can now scan a book ISBN barcode with your phone camera, then enter your page number to find the exact matching spot in the audio. This handy bookmarking tool now works in more than 30 languages. Business is booming for spoken words on the platform. Monthly audiobook listeners grew nearly 40 percent over the past year. Total listening hours increased by more than 30 percent. At least you can finally listen to a massive business textbook on your morning drive instead of staring blankly at dashboard buttons.
