Your phone screen is getting another visual polish that you will notice every time someone sends you a clip. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, is now bringing its Liquid Glass design directly to the app video player. Following initial testing back in October 2025 and an official release in May 2026, the tech giant is slowly updating every corner of the interface. This week, tech blog WABetaInfo spotted the new video player rolling out to users after development began in August. The update introduces a progress bar with a translucent, glass-like appearance that floats at the top of the screen with rounded corners. In light mode, the background shows a clean white Glass layout, while dark mode shifts it to a dark tone. The control bar at the bottom also gets a full refresh to match the iOS 26 design language. For you, this means your video playback looks a bit sleeker and matches the rest of your updated app. However, do not panic if your phone still shows the old player today. Just like previous rollouts for the iPad app in June and the Mac app in July, this update is hitting users in waves. Many people still report seeing the older interface on their devices while Meta finishes the rollout. If you run a business and rely on sending product videos to clients through WhatsApp, your media playback will soon feel a lot more modern. You do not need to do anything to trigger the update, as it arrives automatically through standard app updates. At least you finally get a floating progress bar instead of staring at the same old layout while waiting for a clip to load.
