NewsWyndham offers double United miles on hotel point transfers
Do you have unused hotel points sitting around? Wyndham is doubling points converted to United Airlines. Usually 5 hotel points give you just 1 airline mile. Right now you get 2 miles for every 5 points. It could save points from expiring.
Check your hotel accounts before your points vanish into thin air. Wyndham, the massive budget hotel chain, is offering double United Airlines miles right now when you move points over. Usually, hotel-to-airline transfers are terrible deals. Wyndham normally gives you just 1 United mile for every 5 hotel points. That is a 5-to-1 ratio. Under this new promo, that jumps to 5-to-2. Wyndham recently changed its room booking chart, dropping the value of its points down to about 0.57 cents each. Meanwhile, United miles are worth around 1.3 cents. If you move the maximum 90,000 Wyndham points, you walk away with 36,000 United MileagePlus miles. Here is the real catch for business owners: Wyndham points expire after 18 months without activity, and they disappear completely 4 years after you earn them no matter what you do. If you have points sitting from old roadside stays, transferring them to United keeps that value alive for your next family flight. Better to fly on cheap miles than let a hotel chain quietly wipe out your balance.
