Google brings Personal Intelligence to Android Auto for hands-free app searches

Google adds Personal Intelligence to Android Auto starting today.

The short version

  • The opt-in feature searches Your Gmail and Calendar while driving.
  • Adults with personal Google accounts can turn it on in settings.
  • Workspace and school accounts are excluded from the update.

Your commute just got a smarter assistant. Google, which owns Facebook and WhatsApp, is rolling out Personal Intelligence to Android Auto, bringing Your personal app data straight to Your dashboard, according to PhoneArena. Picture driving on the highway to Newark Liberty International Airport, needing Your flight gate number, and asking Your dashboard instead of pulling over on the shoulder to dig through emails.

The catch is that the feature sits quietly off by default, requiring you to manually switch it on inside Your phone's Gemini settings before it can read anything. Personal Intelligence connects directly to Your Gmail, Calendar, Photos, Maps, YouTube and Search to pull up details on the fly.

Google says the upgrade rolls out starting today for Pixel phones and other Android devices, while cars with built-in Google systems get it in the coming months. Adults with standard personal Google accounts are eligible, but if you run a Workspace business account, an enterprise profile, or a school login, you are left out.

The tool also skips the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the UK and Nigeria entirely. For a busy business owner rushing to a job site or a flight, skipping the phone search keeps Your eyes on the road and Your hands on the wheel.

It turns out the best assistant is the one that knows Your schedule before you hit the gas.
