- Meta suspended its sharing feature after privacy concerns arose.
- The app keeps thirty percent of users after seven days.
Why it matters to you. For your business, heavy ad spending by tech giants means higher costs if you are bidding on the same digital keywords to reach local customers.
According to a new report from Sensor Tower, a market research firm that tracks mobile application data, Meta, which owns Facebook and WhatsApp, just saw its Muse app become the 12th app ever to reach 10 million US downloads in 40 days.
Marcus Mendes, a Brazilian tech podcaster and journalist who covers the technology industry, reported the details from 9to5Mac. The app raced past competitors, leaving ChatGPT, which was created by OpenAI, at just 3.7 million US downloads in the same period. Grok and Claude pulled in even smaller numbers during their first 40 days on phones.
The twist came when security researchers discovered that shared conversations could expose sensitive personal and business information. Meta quickly suspended the sharing feature while investigating the flaw. Despite the privacy scare, US users are sticking around.

Muse is averaging a 30% retention rate after seven days, beating the 19% average of its AI competitors. Meta is spending heavily on promotion, with the app accounting for 39% of its US ad spend this month, up from 23% in September.
When a massive marketing push meets a sticky new tool, the digital noise gets louder for every business trying to grab attention online.
