Homeowners across six Western New York counties can now apply for low-interest disaster loans following severe storms and tornadoes on September 3. The U.S. Small Business Administration, the federal agency that helps small businesses and disaster victims recover, approved the Physical Disaster Declaration for the region.
The storms brought eight confirmed tornadoes, including one in Webster that touched down on Salt Road and toppled trees, alongside massive flooding, large hail, and tens of thousands of power outages. Governor Kathy Hochul announced that residents in Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties are eligible for the recovery funds.
The loans are designed to help Homeowners repair storm damage to their properties that insurance may not fully cover. You can submit an application online using the MySBA Loan Portal.
The deadline to apply for physical damage loans is December 18, while the deadline for economic injury loans extends to July 19, 2027. Check your local county eligibility before filing your paperwork.
