Mark Zuckerberg just joined Jeff Bezos in Miami’s billionaire bunker

Jewish billionaire Mark Zuckerberg paid $170 million for an island mansion.

The short version

  • The 300-acre Indian Creek Island has its own police force.
  • He joins Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in the private Florida enclave.
  • The exclusive enclave features a golf course and a single gated bridge.

Jewish billionaire Mark Zuckerberg just joined Jeff Bezos in Miami’s billionaire bunker, dropping $170 million for a waterfront mansion. Meta, which owns Facebook and WhatsApp, is led by Zuckerberg, who boasts a net worth of $222 billion. The home sits on Indian Creek Island, a 300-acre man-made island near Miami Beach with just 41 lots and about 84 residents.

The island operates as an independent municipality with its own private police force patrolling by land, water, and air. Access is restricted to a single gated bridge, according to the Wall Street Journal. Zuckerberg's new estate features nine bedrooms and 11 full bathrooms on the western side of the island.

Amazon, the retail and cloud giant, is founded by Jeff Bezos, who has been buying up properties on the same island since 2023. Bezos snapped up a $68 million home, a $79 million neighboring property, and an $87 million Mediterranean-style home on the east side.

The island's interior is dominated by an 18-hole golf course and the Indian Creek Country Club, which charges a $500,000 initiation fee. Wealthy tech leaders are flocking to Florida as California considers a proposed 5% tax on individuals worth at least $1 billion.

Google, the search and tech giant, also saw cofounder Larry Page purchase a $71.9 million home in nearby Coconut Grove. Zuckerberg's massive real-estate portfolio also spans a 196-year-old castle in Ireland, 11 properties in Palo Alto, and a sprawling 2,300-acre ranch in Kauai.

When privacy comes with a private police force and a gated bridge, the neighbors are bound to be billionaires.
