Check your Bank account this October. Millions of Americans enrolled in Original Medicare Part B will See a one-time $90 payment hit their account or mailbox, according to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. The White House announced the payout, which comes from the Medicare Improvement Fund created by Congress to help older adults with rising healthcare costs.
Hilarey Gould, a writer for J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, explains that the money is a single, temporary rebate rather than a permanent reduction in your monthly bills. The standard monthly Medicare Part B premium sits at $202.90 in 2026, and while the $90 gives immediate help, it does not change your underlying costs going forward.
Over 20 million beneficiaries meet the baseline rules, but you will miss out if state Medicaid programs pay your premiums, if you pay an income-related surcharge, or if you belong to a Medicare Advantage plan. You do not need to fill out any forms or submit a claim to get the cash.
The Social Security Administration processes the disbursements automatically through your usual benefit method. Before October rolls around, log in to your account at ssa.gov to make sure your address and direct deposit details are up to date.
If your payment does not arrive by late October, call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213. Keep an eye out for imposters trying to exploit the payout, because public funds always bring out the scammers. At least nobody can say Washington didn't spare an expense.
