Apple App Store chief Carson Oliver reveals new strategy for iPhone gaming
Apple promoted Carson Oliver to run the App Store.

The short version
- He says more big PC and console games are coming to iPhone.
- Younger players now use phones instead of traditional gaming consoles.
- Developers can sell games directly or through the Apple Arcade subscription.
Why it matters to you. For you, this shift means more high-end games are bypassing traditional consoles to land directly in your pocket.
Apple, the giant tech company, just laid out its big plans to turn the iPhone into a serious gaming machine. According to 9to5Mac, Apple's new head of App Store Worldwide, Carson Oliver, sat down for an interview with Polygon to explain where the company is heading next.
The timing comes right after Oliver stepped into his new vice president role and Apple launched Indie Games Week to highlight seven new mobile titles. Under the hood, Apple has spent years upgrading its hardware with ray tracing and better graphics tools to make porting PC games easier.
Carson Oliver pointed out that an entire generation of players grew up treating the iPhone as their first gaming console instead of a traditional TV setup. "These users embrace direct touch as their primary controller, making iPhone and iPad the ultimate canvas for indie innovation," Oliver said in the interview.

Apple says it wants to give creators flexible options, letting popular games sell as one-time downloads or join the monthly Apple Arcade subscription. That means your kids might soon be playing full console-quality games on the same device they use for homework and calls.
