- The historic property was once the home of the Dodgers.
Picture 1955 in Brooklyn Heights, where the hometown Dodgers celebrated their World Series victory at the Hotel Bossert at 98 Montague Street. Built in 1909 by lumber magnate Louis Bossert in an Italian Renaissance revival style, the building was known as the Waldorf-Astoria of Brooklyn.
After serving as a luxurious hotel for decades and later as headquarters for the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the property changed hands through years of delays and a foreclosure. In May 2025, Ian Ross’s SomeraRoad, a real estate investment firm, acquired the property for $100 million from lender Beach Point Capital Management, according to Commercial Observer.
Now, work is underway to turn the historic building into branded condominium residences in partnership with Ritz-Carlton, the luxury hotel chain owned by Marriott International. It will be the first such branded property in Brooklyn. Kathleen Urbani, vice president of development at SomeraRoad, said the gorgeous historic Italian Renaissance building shouldn’t have been sitting dormant and they have a great vision for what it could be.

For local property owners and developers, the project marks a major milestone as high-end hospitality brands push deeper into the Brooklyn housing market.
