IRS postpones Tax filing and payment deadlines for Florida Hurricane victims to 2027
Florida taxpayers impacted by Hurricane Isaias got a major Tax break.

The short version
- The IRS pushed back return and payment deadlines to February 8, 2027.
- Residents in 27 Florida counties qualify for this relief period.
- Check if your business or home address falls in the disaster zone.
Check your calendar if your business or family has ties to Florida. The IRS, the federal Tax agency, just pushed back Tax return and payment deadlines for residents impacted by Hurricane Isaias. The new deadline gives people and businesses until February 8, 2027, to file returns or pay taxes originally due during the storm period.
According to the FEMA disaster declaration, residents and business owners in 27 counties qualify for the postponement. The list includes Baker, Bay, Calhoun, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington counties.
The federal agency noted that the relief applies to anyone who held a valid extension to file their 2025 Tax return. However, Tax payments related to those 2025 returns that were originally due on April 15, 2026, are not eligible for the delay, according to the press release.
For a business owner with property or filings in those Florida counties, the extra months give critical breathing room to sort out storm damage without facing IRS penalties. Take a second look at your filing dates so you do not miss the new 2027 cutoff.
