Why it matters to you. For your business, a stronger supply chain means smoother deliveries and steady stock for the shelves you rely on.
Publix Super Markets, the supermarket chain operating thousands of stores across the Southeastern U.S., has just started a major $200 million multi-phase expansion of its primary distribution and logistics campus in West Lakeland, Florida. The investment reinforces Lakeland as the central supply chain hub for the grocer, according to the Tampa Business Journal.
The project will include a just-over-400,000-square-foot warehouse distribution center and a 58,000-square-foot return center. The current campus has been in place for years and already covers more than 1.1 million square feet. Publix purchased the site along Allen K. Breed Highway in late 2023 for $8.25 million.

Publix operates 10 distribution centers, with over half in Florida and two in the Tampa Bay area, in Lakeland and Sarasota. The company also runs 10 manufacturing facilities, half of which are located in Lakeland. When the trucks keep rolling on time, the grocery aisle stays full.
